Today was so beautiful we decided to get out of the city without having to drive far. We haven't yet taken our kids to Mundaring Weir so thought that would be a great adventure.
Let's just say I'm a little scared of heights so found it hard to really enjoy the view plus it seems my 2 year old has a bit of that fear too so wouldn't let me put her down. It's a nice walk across with lots to see. We could hear kookaburras in the trees and there were lots of ducks down in the water. It's a lovely walk across and the kids would probably gladly do it a few times. They were doing some maintenance work on the lookout on the south side.
Another great spot between Sculpture Park and The Mundaring Weir Hotel (below) is Fred Jacoby Park which has a boardwalk around one of the largest living English Oak trees which is heritage listed.
You can sit where you like so inside or out near the playground and you get a buzzer to come and collect your food when it is ready.
steak & mushroom pie $24I couldn't find any mushrooms in my pie but it was nice and the chips crunchy. The pastry on top was really flaky and I made a complete mess trying to get through it. My husband had the steak sandwich ($19) which he enjoyed. I didn't get a photo as he was already half way through it by the time we walked back from the playground!
Ham & Pineapple Pizza $15
We got the kids a Ham & Pineapple pizza to share. My eldest said it was the best pizza ever but I think she says that every time she gets pizza. It was the perfect size for my 3 to share.
They also have a kids menu with all items under $10 each. We went on a weekday and the weekend menu is a little different.
It's a great spot to stop with the kids even if just for a drink on your way back from the weir.
Between now and September is a great time to head out to Mundaring. Everything is lush and green plus at the start of Spring you can find wildflowers. A great spot for a day trip away from the city.
