As you can see in the top picture they are doing a lot of work along the foreshore. This has been going on for months and I can't see much change so not exactly sure how much longer it is meant to continue.
Luckily this hasn't gotten in the way of the playground! It's a great little playground with softfall but I can't wait for them to put the shades back up as it was very hot in the sun yesterday. We were on the table right in the playground corner so we could see the kids playing after they had finished eating. As you can see by the picture above it's right next to the cafe.
Now onto the food. The menu is very simple with salads, burgers/sandwiches, 1 pasta dish, meat and fish. My Mum decided on the Roasted Pumpkin Salad ($20, above) and I went for the Battered Local Whiting ($26, below) and we got extra wedges ($8) for the kids.
My Mum enjoyed her salad though it says it contains feta and we couldn't see any in it. I think $20 is a bit much for just pumpkin and baby spinach. My whiting on the other hand would have easily fed 2! 4 pieces of fish, a pile of chips and salad I didn't come close to finishing it even with 2 kids helping! Though we ordered wedges I'm pretty sure what we got were chips. They were lovely with the skin on and very crunchy without being oily. They came with tomato sauce and mayo but not even a third were eaten with all the ones from my plate added in.
There is no table service so you have to go up to the counter and order. The 2 staff on yesterday (a man and woman) were very friendly and quick to clear the tables which is much better than past experiences.
They need to do a bit of work around the outdoor area with uneven bricks making tables and chairs wobbly.
They do have highchairs available for little ones and also a kids menu for breakfast and lunch. $11 for breakfast gets them pancakes, berries and maple syrup or bacon & scrambled eggs and for $15 at lunch they get ham, cheese & tomato toastie or battered fish or chicken tenderloins all served with chips & salad, kids sized soft drink and activity pack.
Hopefully the works they are doing down there will be done before the Summer holidays so the nice views will be back and it's a lovely spot to sit with an icecream after a meal or play.
