I was the first to arrive and the girls were delighted we were sitting below the above pictured 'chandelier' with rubber ducks, buckets, watering cans and more housing the lights. It has a funky feel to the place and gorgeous views (below) of the ocean.
There are 3 Fig cafes, this one in Swanborne (Naked Fig), one in Scarborough (Wild Fig) and Fremantle way (Pickled Fig) which all have the same menu.
I ordered a coffee and mango smoothie as soon as I sat down and they were on our table in what felt like a minute! The latte (above) was good, not one of the better ones around Perth but nice for sitting and watching the waves roll in. The mango Smoothie (below) was delicious! They put them in 2 of those cups for me for the girls so they were happy and no mess!
Once my cousin and XSIL arrived and had ordered their coffees and we had caught up on some gossip the kids were hungry. The breakfast menu goes until 11.30(ish) and there are 3 options on the Mini Me's menu (under 12's) with Maple Pancakes, Little Big (bacon or sausage with eggs on toast) or the Baby Grizzly Bear Pancake (pancake with bacon, eggs scrambled or fried and maple syrup). One daughter wanted pancakes the other bacon and eggs so I got the Baby Grizzly Bear ($11, pictured below).
The scrambled eggs were nice and creamy, a big fluffy pancake below and some crispy bacon. There wasn't a crumb left!
Us adults just had our coffees and some cake which there was a large selection of but I was eyeing off some of the other diners food that was coming out and it looked good.
There is a selection of vegetarian, vegan and gluten free dishes on the menu and they only use free range eggs and chickens and they do everything as 'green' as possible, even the container the smoothie came in was plant based not oil.
The great thing for those of us with kids is the play room area (below). You can sit in there and have your coffee but we could see it from our table and the kids had a great time in there playing. Out the front is also a very large grass area where you could sit and have takeaway with a fenced playground which looks great but it had been raining and very windy when we were there so will have to check it out next time.
The service was so efficient and friendly the whole time we were there, another bonus with kids not having a long wait for food and drinks to arrive. Not sure if it would be longer on a busy weekend morning.
We will definitely be back, hopefully on a nicer day when we can enjoy the location more.
