Mrs S is located in Maylands along Whatley Cresent on the corner of Eighth Ave right across from the Maylands train station. There is plenty of street parking and on weekends there is usually room at the train station but that is totally packed on the week days. They are open every day except Mondays and Public Holidays, from 7am on weekdays and 8am on weekends.
Now to the important bits.....
Let me start first with the service. The man serving us was so friendly and attentive it made me love the place before we had even eaten. He moved tables, got a highchair and poured water and made us as comfortable as possible.
Above is the babycino which is great for only 50c! Such cute little cups.
I had the latte, $3.50, and it was delicious! Wish I had another for after my food.
The food here is always changing depending on what is in season. The kids will love 'reading' the menus which are pegged inside Golden books. The prices range from $4.50 up to the big breakfast at $21.50.
For the girls we got the chocolate banana bread (above). It came with 2 thick slices, a honey cream and pistachio crumb. The girls loved this special treat as breakfast and my youngest was soon covered in chocolate! (I wondered if she got any actually in her mouth)
I had the scrambled eggs on ciabatta with tomato relish (above) and though I was really hungry I had to share some of the toast with the girls as I couldn't finish it. Some of the best scrambled eggs I've ever had!
My husband went with Granny June's cornbread, poached eggs, bacon and maple syrup (above). He usually goes for a big breakfast but was unable to finish this! I think that is a first. The eggs were perfectly poached and the maple syrup went well with it but just so much cornbread!
We went on a Tuesday morning thinking it wouldn't be busy but there was a steady flow the whole time we were there so I imagine weekends would get busy. I love the warm, cosy feel of the room which is quite small but doesn't feel crowded in.
If you have any room left after breakfast get one of the delicious cakes to take home! The lemon curd is meant to be divine and I will be back to try that!
