I have lived within 10 minutes of Sherbet for a few years now but it has taken their posts on Facebook for me to finally venture down there.
Located in the popular cafe area on Whatley Cresent in Maylands there is only a small amount of seating available so you have to be lucky or prepared to take something yummy home. Outside there are a couple of small tables and inside 2 window boxes which are best with kids and a few other tables.
It was sooooo hard deciding on what we wanted to get! As you can see above M was eyeing it all off and kept changing her mind so in the end I decided. What is there changes daily depending on what they have been baking (all bakes on the premises). This time we went for the choc chip banana bread (didn't get a photo) and carrot cake (pictured bottom), I ordered a latte and a babycino for the 2 bigger girls.
No sooner had the banana bread hit the table then it was demolished! I was the best banana bread I have ever eaten! (and my husband says the same as we got it again the following week) The girls loved their babycinos which as you can see above were so full I don't know how it all stayed there and my latte hit the spot. The carrot cake (below) was delicious with a layer of cream cheese in the middle and plenty of nuts (which I love).
On other occasions of course we had to try cupcakes (so many flavours it's hard to choose) and a vanilla raspberry cake. This is not the place to visit if you are on a diet!
I love the whole look and feel of the cafe down to the little details like the beautiful plates the cakes are placed on.
They have more than just cakes with a selection of pastries, sandwiches, wraps etc for lunches.
They are open every day except Monday from 8am, there is street parking, a small carpark at the rear and on weekends more room in the train station area.
Just around the corner on Eighth Ave you can find the kids stores Magic Shoebox and Sosi so grab and cake for energy to shop or grab a coffee for when you have finished!
